Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development seeks a District 61 Unit 520 supervisor for Ascension Parish to oversee maintenance operations, supervise staff, and monitor performance. You will coordinate road maintenance activities and inspect roadways to set priorities and schedules.

This is open to current DOTD employees. Four years’ experience in public streets/roads is required; a Class D Chauffeur’s license may be needed.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in the construction or maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, railroad rights-of-way, levees, airport runways, taxi strips, parking aprons, or parking lots.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a parish maintenance unit and monitors the production of that unit’s performance.
• Coordinates maintenance management activities within the assigned parish in conjunction with the Highway Foreman.
• Inspects all roadways in the assigned parish once within a two-week period and the parish unit's work site on a regular basis.
• Establishes priorities to prepare work schedules.
• Collects roadway condition information for highway need study and makes recommendations for state routes for Preservation Program, Contract Maintenance Program, and Interstate Rehabilitation Program within the assigned parish.
