Job summary

City of Pine City is seeking a hands-on Public Works Mechanic to support Streets, Water, Sewer, Cemetery, and Parks & Public Buildings. You will perform skilled maintenance, repairs, inspections, and fabrication on city vehicles and equipment, while managing daily diagnostics and shop operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of mechanic experience, and the ability to obtain a Class B license with air brake endorsement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of mechanic experience required.
  • Ability to obtain Class B license with air brake endorsement.
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and safety standards.
  • Experience with metalwork, shop tools, and regulatory guidelines preferred.
  • MNDOT Safety Inspector Certification and post-secondary mechanic training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, inspections, and fabrication on city vehicles and equipment.
  • Manage daily diagnostics and organize shop operations.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with equipment purchases.
  • Ensure fleet safety and readiness for the community.
  • Support multiple departments: Streets, Water, Sewer, Cemetery, Parks & Public Buildings.
