Job summary

The City of Waite Park is seeking a Mechanic to maintain and diagnose a wide variety of Public Works fleet vehicles and equipment. The role covers engines, trucks, emergency response vehicles, heavy equipment, and related automotive systems.

You will perform maintenance, welding, fabrication, and record-keeping, ensuring safe, reliable operation of the fleet and a clean, organized workshop environment. A Class B CDL is required with tanker and air brake endorsements, or obtained within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Two years experience in vehicle equipment and machinery repair and operations.
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Welding and minor building maintenance experience.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and software.
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills.
• Valid Class B commercial driver's license with tanker and air brake endorsements (obtain within 6 months if not held).

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and equipment to determine issues and repairs needed.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating parts.
• Repair or replace broken or worn parts.

The City of Waite Park is seeking a skilled Mechanic to perform mechanical maintenance and diagnosing repairs on a wide variety of the Public Works fleet of vehicles and equipment. Skilled work includes but not limited to operating small engines automobiles trucks emergency response vehicles heavy equipment and other standard and special automotive equipment operated by the municipality. This position is responsible for the maintenance fabricatingwelding and upkeep for all the Public Works Fleet.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years experience in vehicle equipment and machinery repair and operations. Proficient knowledge of mechanical electrical and hydraulic systems welding and minor building maintenance. Ability to use diagnostic tools and software. Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills. Must have a Valid Class B commercial drivers license with tanker and air brake endorsements if you dont have must obtain within 6 months of hire.
