The City of Madison Water Utility is hiring a Public Works Maintenance Worker 2 to perform varied maintenance tasks, including custodial duties and vehicle cleaning, and to inspect and assess reported water system problems.
Job duties include operating valves to control water flow, notifying the public about water issues, coordinating with Leadworker and Waterworks Operator, and assisting with repairs and maintenance across the system.

Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License with airbrake endorsement. The successful candidate must have passed the written portion of the relevant Department of Transportation testing process before starting employment. A condition of continued employment is passage of the skills portion of the test and obtaining the required operator's license within six (6) months.
Physical Requirements: Employees in this position must be able to lift/carry objects weighing up to 90 pounds and must be capable of lifting heavier objects with another employee. In addition, employees must be able to frequently walk, stand, bend, twist, squat, climb and reach for extended periods of time. This position may require some work outdoors in all types of weather.
