Job summary

Glynn County Government seeks a Maintenance Worker to help repair and maintain county streets, drainage structures, and related infrastructure in Brunswick, GA. The role includes operating tractors, trimming trees, mowing right-of-way, and assisting with drainage installations.

A valid GA driver’s license is required, with 1–2 years in a similar role. Responsibilities include pothole repair, sign maintenance, traffic control, and after-hours emergency response.

Qualifications

• Read, write, and perform basic math at a level typically associated with high school completion.
• 1–2 years of experience in a related maintenance role or apprenticeship/internship.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license for the vehicle operated.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractors and power equipment to mow and maintain right-of-way.
• Trim trees and clear brush using pole saws and other tools.
• Cut weeds around signs and structures; collect debris from right-of-way.
• Assists in vacuum truck operation to clean drainage structures.
• Assist in installation and repair of drainage pipes and infrastructure.
• Patch potholes and maintain sidewalks and bike paths.
• Maintain street signs; install battery backups for traffic signals and stripe lots.
• Direct traffic control at work sites and respond to after-hours emergencies.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and schedule preventive maintenance.
• Supervise community service workers in litter collection and clean-up tasks.
