Job summary

Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to support street, drainage, and public facility projects. The role involves manual labor, site prep, and operation of multiple tools and equipment to keep county infrastructure in good condition.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather. Training in flagging will be provided within six months.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; supplemented by one year of construction and maintenance experience.
  • Valid driver's license; flagging certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor (20–50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds).
  • Willingness to work in diverse weather conditions and around traffic.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual labor for construction and maintenance on streets, rights-of-way, and drainage systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain sidewalks, curbs, gutters, culverts, and drainage structures.
  • Operate and assist with a variety of machinery and tools used in public works projects.
  • Maintain safety procedures, direct traffic, and ensure public safety around worksites.
  • Prepare forms, reports, and maintain equipment and supply records.
