Elk Grove Village in Illinois is seeking a Maintenance Worker (General Operations) in the Public Works Department. The role requires manual labor, operation of light and heavy equipment, and a commitment to public service.

The successful candidate will support street, water, sewer, and urban forestry activities and respond to emergencies. This union position offers 40-hour weeks, overtime as needed, and benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and IMRF pension.

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Physical labor with operation of light and heavy equipment.
• Experience in Public Works activities preferred.
• Ability to work overtime and respond to off-hours emergencies.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License with clean record; CDL Class B with tanker and air brake endorsements or obtain within 6 months.

Mansioni

• Patching asphalt, street sweeping, tree/brush removal, leaf collection, sign maintenance, sewer cleaning, stormwater repairs, water main/service line repairs, and concrete work.
• Enter and update asset management software for accurate maintenance records.
• Operate heavy trucks and equipment to repair and maintain Village infrastructure.
• Assist with setup, teardown, and cleanup of Village special events.
• Perform snow plowing and salt spreading as part of 24/7 winter operations.
