Job summary

Butte County is seeking skilled Public Works Maintenance Workers I–III to perform road maintenance, repair, and minor construction under varying supervision levels. You will operate heavy equipment, install traffic control devices, and assist with winter operations.

A valid driver’s license is required and progression to II/III depends on experience and performance. Positions are in the Public Works field, with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade; and six months to three years of related experience depending on level I/II/III.
• Must possess a valid US driver’s license.
• Certifications per level: Class A license with air brake and tanker endorsements may be required for II/III.

Responsibilities

• Perform road maintenance, repair and minor construction tasks.
• Operate and maintain heavy machinery and hand tools.
• Respond to emergencies and perform snow removal.
• Install and repair traffic control devices and signage.
