Job summary

Town of Manchester seeks a qualified Public Works Director to supervise the Highway, Fleet, Parks and Cemetery Divisions. You will provide administrative and technical guidance, plan budgets, and coordinate with town departments and boards to ensure efficient municipal services.

The role requires leading large teams, managing contracts, and ensuring safety and compliance across operations. A bachelor’s degree and several years of supervisory experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field.
• Minimum four years supervising public works, fleet/highway.
• Experience with budgeting, capital projects, and contracts.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of safety, regulations, and OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operation of Highway, Fleet, Parks and Cemetery Divisions.
• Prepare annual operating budget and capital improvements.
• Coordinate with other departments and boards.
• Administer labor contracts and resolve grievances.
• Plan fleet replacement and maintenance programs.
• Oversee training and staff development.
