Job summary

Boone County Fiscal Court is seeking a Public Services Laborer to support the Public Works Department in maintaining roads, storm sewers, bridges, and drainage facilities within Boone County. The role involves manual tasks under the supervision of the Public Services Supervisor, Road or Inmate Crew Leader.

Responsibilities include assisting with road and right-of-way maintenance, equipment servicing, operating trucks, and ensuring OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

Graduate of a standard high school, vocational school or the equivalency.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

Assist Public Services Road Crew Leader with general maintenance of County right-of-ways, roads and storm sewer systems.
Assist with servicing and maintenance of equipment and tools used by Public Services Road Crews.
Operate vehicles, trucks and equipment as needed for construction work, street maintenance, and hauling of materials.
Assist the Public Services Crew Leader to ensure Public Works is OSHA compliant.
On call 24/7 to assist Boone County Dispatch with emergencies.
Assist with the Department’s snow removal operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
