Job summary

City of Baltimore is seeking a Public Works Inspector II to ensure contractors meet specifications, standards, and codes on public construction projects. Duties include on-site inspections of highways, streets, bridges, and water/wastewater systems.

Incumbents work with moderate supervision; outdoor conditions and exposure to weather are expected. A high school diploma or GED and four years of relevant inspection experience are required.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or GED certificate.
• Experience: Four years of construction inspection in highways, streets, bridges or water and sewer facilities.
• Licenses: Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial license or equivalent; must obtain Baltimore City permit; provisional/license not acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect on-site to ensure compliance with specifications, standards and codes.
• Perform inspections on highways, streets, bridges and water/wastewater facilities.
• Work outdoors; occasionally evenings or weekends and under moderate supervision.
