Job summary

Carroll County Government is seeking a Construction Inspector I in the Public Works - Engineering department. You will perform inspections, review materials, and ensure compliance with county standards and project specifications.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, attending field meetings, and assisting peers to maintain safety and quality on construction projects. Requires a valid driver's license and Maryland certifications within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three or more years of related experience.
• Comparable amount of education and experience may substitute for minimum requirement.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction, repair, and alteration of roads, bridges, storm drains, and other public facilities to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Enforce traffic control and safety regulations at project sites.
• Document progress with daily and composite reports; review construction stages.
• Record material quantities and perform field testing; document and verify grades and elevations.
• Attend field meetings to coordinate with contractors, architects, and engineers.
• Collaborate with peers to foster a supportive environment and learn continuously.
• Ensure timely completion of work to meet department goals; implement feedback to improve efficiency.
• Demonstrate integrity, ethics, and fiscal responsibility.
