Job summary

NV5 is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector in Oceanside, CA to ensure quality, safety, and compliance on public works projects such as pipelines, water facilities, and lift stations. The role involves working with supervisors, contractors, and design professionals to solve problems, monitor progress, and maintain schedules.

Experience in civil construction with knowledge of codes and tools like MS Project or Primavera is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–10 years of civil construction experience in Municipal/Public Works or related fields.
• Group II Construction Inspection Certifications or other valid public works certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of building codes (ICBO, NEC, local ordinances) and engineering practices for public works/transportation.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and contract terms; coordinate with stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience coordinating multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee quality and compliance, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
• Inspect structures and systems on-site to verify compliance and safety.
• Track costs and schedules; identify risks and help keep deadlines and budgets on track.
• Interpret plans and contract terms; communicate with supervisors, contractors, and design professionals.
• Proactively manage delays, weather disruptions, and site emergencies to maintain efficiency.
• Represent NV5 and maintain strong client relationships to provide optimal solutions.
