Job summary

NV5 is hiring a Construction Inspector in California with 3–5 years of field experience on public infrastructure or aviation projects. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work with engineers, inspectors and public agencies.

You will perform daily field inspections, verify compliance with plans, and document progress, safety and quality. Travel to project sites is required, with competitive pay and benefits offered by NV5.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of field inspection or construction management support on public infrastructure, transportation, transit or aviation projects.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with Caltrans plans, specifications and construction practices is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with contractors and agency representatives.
• Ability to prepare accurate daily reports, field notes and project correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections of construction activities, materials and workmanship.
• Verify contractor compliance with approved plans, specifications, permits and contract documents.
• Monitor progress, work methods, equipment and site conditions.
• Document inspections, quantities, installed materials, deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Prepare daily reports, field notes, photographs and project correspondence.
• Coordinate with resident engineers, project managers, contractors and agency staff.
• Observe testing and special inspections and verify documentation.
• Assist with punch-list development and final inspections.
• Monitor traffic control, site access and public safety requirements.
• Support environmental, stormwater and inspection requirements.
