Job summary

City of Bryan is seeking an experienced construction inspector to perform oversight on capital improvement projects and infrastructure related to proposed development. You will review plans and inspect street improvements, bridges, drainage, utilities, lighting, and traffic signals to ensure compliance with approved plans and standards.

Responsibilities include evaluating submittals, testing reports, erosion control plans, and permits; preparing reports and payments; maintaining inspection logs;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; related coursework is a plus.
• At least five (5) years in general civil construction-related work (surveying, roadwork, utilities).
• Knowledge of public works construction practices, safety standards, and applicable laws/regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and site conditions for construction projects.
• Inspect street improvements, bridges, drainage, utilities, lighting, and traffic signals for compliance with plans.
• Check submittals, testing reports, detour plans, erosion control, and permits.
• Prepare progress payments, releases of securities, and notices of completion.
• Maintain logs, records, and inspection reports; coordinate surveys and testing.
• Coordinate inspections with contractors and other agencies; respond to inquiries and issues.
