Job summary

Brunswick County seeks an Equipment Operator II to operate heavy equipment and maintain drainage systems and rights‑of‑way. Tasks include digging ditches, loading dirt, and performing basic maintenance on machinery.

You will also prepare reports and assist with site grading, ensuring safety and efficiency. A high school diploma or GED plus five years of related public works experience is required, with a CDL to be obtained within one year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with five years of public works/heavy equipment experience.
• CDL must be obtained within one year of employment.
• Ability to operate multiple heavy equipment types and perform basic maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Dig ditches and haul/earth materials to maintain drainage systems and rights‑of‑way.
• Operate grade rod to set grades and inspect equipment for safety.
• Perform minor repairs and routine servicing on machinery.
• Conduct landscape duties and maintain records and reports on vehicle maintenance and production.
