Job summary

The City of Wilmington, NC is seeking an Equipment Operator II to maintain stormwater drainage systems and assist in public road maintenance. You will operate a range of equipment, perform basic maintenance, and support crews in daily tasks while adhering to safety standards.

Ideal applicants have a high school diploma or GED and experience with CDL-operated vehicles. On-call and outdoor work in all weather are expected, with opportunities for training and certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED. Vocational/technical training in CDL-operated vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate power-driven equipment to maintain stormwater drainage and roads.
• Perform basic maintenance on equipment and keep logs/records.
• Assist crew with manual labor and materials handling at job sites.
• Follow safety procedures and manage traffic around work zones.
• Provide storm preparation and cleanup support, including setting up traffic barriers.
