Job summary

The Town of Burlington is seeking a skilled equipment operator for the Department of Public Works in Burlington, MA. This full-time union position involves operating heavy and specialized public works equipment under the supervision of the Superintendent of the Highway Division.

Starting hourly rate ranges from $31.90 to $33.34 per hour. Benefits include health and dental insurance, paid time off, pension, clothing allowance, education reimbursement, and loan forgiveness options.

Qualifications

• Must possess a CDL Class B License.
• Must either possess or obtain Hoisting Licenses 1B, 2A, 4E and 4G within 90 days.
• Must have the ability to operate trucks with a rated capacity of more than three tons, up to nine tons.
• Ability to operate hoisting equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders and catch basin machines, 125 CFM compressors, sidewalk rollers highway sanders and similar equipment used in Public Works construction and maintenance.
• Must be available for emergency snow removal and able to plow and sand roads.

Responsibilities

• Assists in public works projects such as maintaining and repairing streets and drainage lines.
• Operates specialized and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, rollers, basin cleaners and street sweepers; performs maintenance on equipment.
