Job summary

This full-time role requires a high school diploma or GED, four years of general labor or heavy equipment experience, and a WA driver’s license. CDL Class A must be obtained within 18 months; on-call emergency response and safety

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Four years of general laborer experience or equivalent for essential functions.
  • CDL Class A or obtaining one within 18 months; endorsements required to operate assigned vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • General laborer tasks with hand and power tools.
  • Operate road maintenance, construction, and paving equipment.
  • Drive dump trucks and other trucks with trailers.
  • Set up traffic control as a flagger and manage work zones.
  • Remove debris, trees, snow, and hazards to keep transportation systems open and safe.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipment.
  • Organize and lead work assignments with other staff.
  • Respond to emergent situations on-call.
  • Communicate with the public courteously and professionally.
  • Complete required safety trainings including flagger and boater operation.
  • Adhere to ethical standards per RCW 42.52 and perform other duties as assigned.
