Job summary

Socket.dev in Wisconsin is seeking a GIS Technician to provide geospatial support to Public Works and other departments. You will maintain GIS asset data, develop mapping tools, and collaborate with the IT GIS division to deliver accurate spatial outputs for internal and external users.

You will create StoryMaps, dashboards, project maps, and online data services, while assisting civil engineering staff with meetings, reports, plan reviews, and open-records requests.

Qualifications

• Required knowledge of geospatial data management and GIS concepts.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro/Online and related mapping tools preferred.
• Ability to read maps, plans, contracts, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical assistance and manage geospatial data for city GIS assets and mapping outputs; coordinate with I&E customers.
• Support civil engineering staff with meetings, reports, plan reviews, and open-records requests; manage as-built docs and submittals.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and ensure data quality and safety.
