City of Lubbock is seeking a hands-on public works technician to perform manual tasks in construction and maintenance of city facilities. The role installs and repairs water meters and lines, assists in sewer line cleaning and inspection, maintains manholes, and operates light construction equipment as needed.

It requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a Texas operator's license, with a background check and physical exam.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with six months' construction/maintenance experience.
• Physical exam required.
• Texas Operator's License (Streets).
• Background checks and random drug screening.

Responsabilités

• Install and repair water meters, water and wastewater lines.
• Assist in operating equipment to clean and inspect sewer lines and taps.
• Clean and repair manholes; raise and lower manholes and meter boxes.
• Occasionally operate hydraulic or pneumatic power tools and light construction equipment (e.g., skid steer).
• Order parts and supplies; clean, repair, and test meters.
• Assist in scheduling routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Assist in setting up proper traffic control devices in work areas.
• Assist in operation, inspection and maintenance of city roadways.
• Keep a daily log of oil levels in equipment.
