Job summary

The City of Aurora seeks a Service Technician II for three open full-time positions in Public Service. The role involves skilled and semi-skilled manual labor, operating city vehicles, performing road and roadside maintenance, and supporting water and wastewater departments. A 12-month probationary period applies.

On-call during emergencies; overtime may occur based on weather and project needs. CDL preferred or obtained within 6 months; a valid driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year experience operating light/heavy equipment.
• Ohio Driver’s License with safe driving record required; Class B CDL preferred or must be obtained within one year.

Responsibilities

• Follows all safety rules; report safety concerns.
• Operate city vehicles/equipment; report major malfunctions.
• Perform road repairs: potholes, cracks, signs, berm work, snow/ice removal.
• Roadside maintenance: right-of-way, mowing, ditches, culverts, storm basins.
• Cemetery maintenance; may excavate graves.
• Coordinate with Water/Wastewater for inspections and repairs.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and tools; report material depletion.
