Job summary

The City of Jurupa Valley seeks an experienced operations leader to oversee Public Works field operations, including street and sidewalk maintenance, fleet management, and related services. You will lead staff, coordinate contractors, and drive improvements in service delivery to meet community needs.

Ideal candidates bring strong maintenance background and the ability to plan, schedule, and evaluate daily operations under the direction of the Director of Public Works and City leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of increasingly responsible management and/or administrative experience in public works maintenance, construction, and contract administration, including two (2) years at a supervisory level.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree highly desirable; four years of related experience may substitute for education.
• Possession of a California driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate Public Works Field Operations programs, services, and activities including street and sidewalk maintenance, fleet management, lighting, and other facilities.
• Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; determine staffing needs and administer policies and procedures.
• Monitor efficiency of service delivery, assign work activities, and supervise staff; participate in contractor selection and oversee contracted services.
• Develop budgets, forecast funding needs, and manage expenditures and inventory; prepare reports for City Council and other executives.
• Represent the department in meetings with governmental agencies and community groups.
