Job summary

City of Denison is seeking a Truck/Equipment Operator for the Public Works Division. You will drive and operate specialized machinery, perform routine maintenance, and assist with training of junior staff within City limits.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and a valid CDL; candidates should be able to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends as needed, following established procedures to support municipal services.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid commercial operator’s license (CDL) required at time of placement with driving record acceptable.
• Experience or training in the operation of heavy equipment/vehicles used within the division.
• At least six months of driving trucks or operating light equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Drives and operates specialized equipment used in the Division.
• Independently performs assigned work within City limits.
• Might adjust, service, and maintain equipment; participates in servicing as needed.
• Provides on-the-job training to lower level personnel.
• May operate more complex equipment for training and relief purposes.
• Follow oral instructions; supervisor consulted when guidelines do not cover a situation.
