Job summary

The City of Diamond Bar is seeking a dedicated individual to perform technical work in the Engineering division of the Public Works Department. Under supervision, you will handle public inquiries, process encroachment and grading permits, prepare exhibits and maps, and conduct inspections.

Qualifications include a high school diploma with civil engineering coursework and at least two years of related experience, plus a California driver’s license. Local government experience is a plus.

• Basic knowledge of construction methods and engineering math.
• Ability to operate computer terminals and various software.
• Experience interacting with contractors and the public.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Public and Public Works Department with engineering inquiries at the public counter.
• Process encroachment and grading permit applications; coordinate plan checks and inspections.
• Prepare exhibits, maps, drawings, and respond to public records requests.
• Conduct inspections and traffic counts; assist with CIP projects as needed.
• Maintain permit and project files and support records retention efforts.
