Job summary

The City of Livermore is seeking an Assistant Engineering Technician to support the Design Section on public works projects. Responsibilities include CAD/GIS duties, plan review, and field inspections, with emphasis on traffic and development studies.

Qualifications

• Two years of technical experience in public works engineering.
• An Associate degree in a related field is desirable.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime; respond to emergencies, attend meetings, and seminars as required.

Responsibilities

• Operates reprographics machine and various other office machines; uses a computer to perform CAD, GIS, and spreadsheet functions; maintains engineering files and base maps.
• Uses computer aided drafting techniques to prepare routine engineering plans for development projects; develops graphs, charts, and exhibits for presentations; drafts specifications; reviews maps and plans for compliance with City standards.
• Performs field inspections of public works projects and inspects infrastructure for conformance with standards; maintains daily records of progress and materials.
• Collects data for traffic engineering studies and assists in plans and estimates for traffic projects.
