Job summary

Lane County seeks a strategic Public Works Director to lead eight divisions, align initiatives with county goals, and steward budget and resources. The role reports to the County Administrator and influences policy and strategy across the organization.

The successful candidate will have a decade of senior public administration leadership, strong financial acumen, and a background in public works or land management, with a bachelor’s degree required.

Qualifications

• Ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in public administration focused on public works.
• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, civil engineering, environmental services, or related field.
• Strong financial acumen with budget development, long-range planning, asset management and funding strategy.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for Lane County's Public Works Department across eight divisions.
• Develop short- and long-range plans and align Public Works with broader county goals.
• Oversee department budget, expenditures, and resource allocation.
• Serve as liaison with elected officials, county leadership, and community partners.
