Job summary

Lane County seeks a strategic, politically astute Public Works Director to lead eight divisions and align the department with the County’s broader goals. The role reports to the County Administrator and works with the Executive Leadership Team and Board of County Commissioners to set priorities and advance countywide initiatives.

Qualifications

• Ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in public administration with a focus on public works is required.
• A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, civil engineering, environmental services, or a closely related field is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and direction for Lane County's Public Works Department and its eight divisions.
• Establish priorities, develop short- and long-range plans, and align Public Works with County goals.
• Oversee the department budget, expenditures, and resource allocation; liaise with elected officials and the Board.
• Collaborate across divisions and external partners to deliver high‑quality public services.
