Job summary

City of Kennesaw is seeking a highly qualified Public Works Director to lead the Public Works Department, oversee 33 positions, and guide major infrastructure projects in coordination with the city engineer and other department heads.

The role emphasizes executive leadership, strategic planning, and collaboration with federal, state, and local partners. Starting salary ranges from $110,000 to $130,000 with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience Option A: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering with at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Public Works, Engineering, or closely related fields.
• Education & Experience Option B: Master’s degree in a non-technical field combined with at least eight (8)years of progressively responsible experience in Public Works or Engineering.
• Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requiredknowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position may be considered.
• Licensure: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead public works, infrastructure projects, and multi-department coordination.
• Oversee planning, technical oversight, and external engagement.
• Ensure delivery of world-class services and major projects for the City.

Education
