Job summary

City of Chisholm seeks a Public Works Director to plan and coordinate daily activities across Public Works, Utilities and Cemetery services. You will oversee maintenance of streets, sewers, water systems, and fleet, while guiding staff and liaising with council and the community.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and expertise in labor relations, budget planning, and safety compliance. This on-site position offers pension benefits and competitive pay under MAPE.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and four (4) years previous public works experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of Fleet, tools, specifications and purchasing.
• 3 years ofverifiable supervisory experience.
• Considerable knowledge of property, plant, and equipment maintenance including street, sewer, and water maintenance and repairs.
• Appropriate language skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret documents and basic financial statements
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with employees, consultants, other governmental agency representatives, City officials and the general public.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with labor relations.
• Ability to make independent judgments which have significant impact on the City.
• Valid CDL or the ability to obtain one in 1 year.

Wages: Annual Salary $ 107,717.75. This is position is part of the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees (MAPE) Labor Agreement.
