Job summary

The City of Harrisonburg is hiring a Construction Program Inspector for the Public Works Department. This full-time role offers benefits and a salary range of $26.67–$29.34 per hour ($55,473–$61,027 annually), with exact pay based on qualifications and city policy.

You will monitor contractor and private development activities, including erosion and sediment control and stormwater management, ensuring compliance with contracts, plans, and regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with engineering/ construction coursework and related experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Certifications listed below within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect contractor and private developer construction activities.
• Ensure erosion/sediment control and stormwater measures meet contracts and codes.
• Maintain detailed inspection records, permits, plans and related documentation.
• Coordinate construction activities between the City and contractors to meet deadlines and resolve issues.
• Provide emergency response support for snow and ice operations as needed.
