Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
Four years of full-time, professional civil engineering experience, one year in a supervisory or lead capacity.

Responsibilities

Participate in engineering studies and reports; coordinate with departments, agencies, citizens, consultants and developers.
Design complex public works projects; manage consultant contracts; review consultants’ work.
Project manage multiple projects from conception to construction; monitor progress and budget.
Review field and laboratory tests; write related memoranda and reports.
Conduct site investigations; develop design plans, specs, and cost estimates; administer Federal and State grants; review CEQA/ EIR documents.
Prepare permit applications to regulatory agencies.
May prepare legal descriptions for deeds and easements.
Build and maintain positive relationships with staff and the public.
Plan and supervise the work of land surveyors, engineers, and technicians.
Represent the Department at technical meetings and public gatherings.
Prepare reports, budgets, and staffing recommendations.
Meet with officials and stakeholders on public works matters.
Sign and stamp plans as Engineer of record, and perform related duties.
