Job summary

The City of Laguna Beach is seeking two Assistant Engineers to join its Public Works team. You will support planning, design, construction, and delivery of public works and capital improvement projects while collaborating with colleagues, consultants, contractors, developers, and the community to enhance the City’s infrastructure and public spaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
• Some professional engineering experience desirable
• EIT or CA driver’s license desirable
• Familiarity with City codes and standards is a plus

Responsibilities

• Assist planning, design, and delivery of public works and capital projects from concept to construction.
• Review plans, permits, and documents for compliance with city standards.
• Prepare reports, estimates, specifications, bid documents, and project schedules.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, developers, and agencies to deliver projects.
• Assist with construction management, contracts, field inspections, and issue resolution.
• Analyze engineering data and present findings to staff and commissions.
• Provide responsive service to residents and stakeholders.
