Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality - Raleigh Regional Office is seeking an Engineer II (NS) to apply Safe Drinking Water Act and related regulations to public water systems. This experienced engineer conducts field inspections, audits, and technical evaluations, and helps enforce compliance with water quality standards.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering and have at least three years of progressive experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Safe Drinking Water Act and related regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PWS field inspections, investigations, and audits.
• Monitor and report maximum contaminant level violations and other regulatory issues.
• Prepare enforcement documents and coordinate enforcement actions.
• Review engineering plans and specifications for compliance.
• Provide technical and regulatory assistance to internal and external partners.
