Job summary

Hopelink in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Public Transportation Bus Driver CDL/Trainee. This role delivers safe, courteous transportation across multiple locations including the Kent and Redmond yards. Expect training and a path to CDL endorsement.

During training, schedule is Mon-Fri 7:00am-4:00pm. After training, multiple schedules are available. Hopelink offers strong benefits and a mission-focused workplace in the community.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license for at least five years in the United States.
  • Must be able to provide Proof of Permanent Residency.
  • DOT Medical Examination must be passed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, courteous, and on-time transportation to customers in vans, minibuses or small buses; adhere to traffic regulations.
  • Communicate with dispatchers by radio and provide verbal and written reports.
  • Assist and secure passengers; provide special assistance as needed, such as opening doors and operating wheelchair lift.
  • Maintain schedules on regular or special routes; collect fares and provide route information to the public.
  • Inspect vehicle before and after operation; clean vehicle interior and exterior; perform light maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance to provide dependable service.

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license for at least five (5) years within the United States
  • Be able to provide Proof of Permanent Residency.
    • Acceptable documentation includes:
      • US Passport
      • US Issued Birth Certificate
      • Permanent Resident Card
      • Certificate of Naturalization
      • Certificate of Citizenship
      • Consular Report of Birth Abroad
  • Must be able to pass a DOT Medical Examination
  • No suspensions or revocations of drivers license in the last three (3) years
  • Must hold, or have the ability to obtain a CDL Learner’s Permit with Passenger Endorsements

This position is a Service Critical Employeewith specific attendance requirements. Because of the critical nature of this role to Hopelink operations, it is important that you are able to:

  • Report to the worksite during your scheduled hours, regardless of weather conditions or other emergencies.
  • Manage your own transportation needs in adverse weather, including possible limitations to public transportation options.
  • Havea specific plan to address any other possible attendance barriers that arise during adverse weather and other emergencies, such as disrupted utilities or public services, road closures, school closures, etc.

** Due to Federal Regulations, this position is considered a Safety Sensitive Position, therefore employees are required to undergo a full criminal background check, pre-employment Federal DOT drug testing, and are subject to random drug testing. While legal in Washington State, the DOT drug tests detect the presence of marijuana, and transportation employees in safety sensitive position must test negative for marijuana.

Examples of what you will be doing:

  • Provide safe, courteous, and on-time transportation to customers in vans, minibuses or small buses; adhere to traffic regulations.
  • Communicate and interact with individuals of various backgrounds and abilities; communicate with dispatchers by radio and provides verbal and written reports.
  • Assist and secure passengers; provide special assistance as needed, such as opening doors, operating wheelchair lift, escorting to buildings and the like.
  • Maintain schedules on regular or special routes; collect fares, issue transfers; provide verbal information to the public regarding routes, schedule and transfer points; determine safest and most efficient routes to specific address.
  • Inspect vehicle before and after operation; clean vehicle interior and exterior as needed; fuel and perform minor maintenance on vehicle.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance in order to provide dependable service to the public.

How you will be compensated: Hopelink is proud to provide meaningful paid time away from work and an affordable, comprehensive benefits package.

  • Compensation: starting at $25.00 during training & increasing to $27.00 upon completion of training. Up to $29.00 for those who already hold a CDL with passenger endorsement, depending on years of experience.

  • Plus up to 7 paid float days available to use immediately; dependent on hire date and hours/week
