Job summary

The City of Fargo is seeking a Bus Operator to safely drive transit vehicles on assigned routes for the Transit Department. The role emphasizes safe, reliable, accessible public transportation with strong customer service and safety compliance.

Under supervision, you will perform pre/post-trip inspections, collect fares, assist passengers including those with disabilities, and communicate with Dispatch to maintain on-time service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain Class B CDL with passenger endorsement within 90 days of hire.
• Training provided to ensure compliance with Federal Transit Administration regulations.
• Willingness to complete required licenses and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Operates transit vehicles safely and efficiently on assigned routes.
• Adheres to schedules and informs Dispatch of delays or issues.
• Ensures passenger safety and accessibility, including assistance for riders with disabilities.
• Collects fares and validates passes using fare media.
• Completes pre-trip/post-trip inspections and DVIRs; reports safety concerns.
• Maintains compliance with department policies and safety guidelines.
