Job summary

The City of Amarillo is hiring a Bus Driver to serve the community on fixed-route transit. Drivers will operate buses, issue passes, count riders, and ensure safety through inspections.

Candidates must have a high school diploma, a minimum of three years’ driving experience, and a Texas license or CDL with a P endorsement (or be willing to obtain CDL with P). The position offers comprehensive benefits and training.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years driving experience.
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license or CDL with P endorsement, or be willing to obtain CDL with P.
• If CDL without P, obtain before orientation.
• Must pass a standard Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.

Responsibilities

• Drive Transit vehicles and follow traffic laws to ensure safety.
• Issue day passes and record passenger counts and types.
• Perform daily pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Provide limited assistance to persons with disabilities.
