Job summary

State of Idaho is seeking a Tax Compliance Officer 1 in Lewiston to help collect delinquent taxes and enforce tax laws. You will provide taxpayer education and assist at the front counter, supporting the Lewiston field office.

The role emphasizes interviewing taxpayers, interpreting regulations, and advising on liabilities, with a strong commitment to public service and accurate, compliant outcomes.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months interpreting, applying, and explaining laws, regulations, policies, and/or procedures to others.
• At least 6 months dealing with a variety of customers in an office setting or in the field.
• At least 6 months of one-on-one interviewing to elicit facts of a sensitive nature.

Responsibilities

• Enforce Idaho tax laws through the collection process for all tax types administered by the Tax Commission.
• Interview individuals to obtain facts and research sources for financial information.
• Consult with taxpayers or representatives about liens, levies and warrants.
• Review taxpayer financial statements and verify information provided.
• Educate taxpayers on Idaho tax laws and ensure compliance.
• Assist taxpayers at front counter in field offices including Lewiston.
