Job summary

The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a temporary exempt Custodian for the Real Estate Division (RED). The role involves routine janitorial tasks in public buildings and schools, with duties from floor care to restroom sanitation, under supervision.

Qualifications

• Education: Verification of completed or current enrollment in a custodial training course equivalent to the City College of San Francisco Custodial Training program at the time of application.
• Experience: Six (6) months (1040 hours) verifiable paid full-time custodial or janitorial experience at a commercial building.
• Desirable Qualifications: Proficient in operating and maintaining industrial cleaning equipment; able to work flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, scrubs, mops, spots and waxes floors; vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets.
• Cleans, dusts and polishes cabinets, furniture and woodwork; empties and cleans waste receptacles.
• Cleans stairways, restrooms, and offices; handles supplies and basic repairs as needed.
• Assists in moving furniture and equipment; ensures doors and windows are secured.
• Operates cleaning equipment and monitors basic building systems; responds to scheduling needs.
