Job summary

Salt Lake Community College’s Jordan Library is looking for a Public Services Specialist I to join the front desk team serving 1,600+ patrons per month. You will assist students, faculty, staff and community members with circulation, basic reference questions, and access to library resources including computers.

Under supervision, you will help maintain a welcoming environment, conduct hourly walkthroughs, and participate in daily operations while supporting outreach and responsive service

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree or some college; prior library experience is a plus.
• Fluency in English; multilingual abilities helpful as listed by the college.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial contact for patrons at the circulation desk.
• Assist with basic reference and non-research questions.
• Checkout library materials and assist with computers and printing.
• Direct callers and route inquiries to appropriate SLCC departments.
• Support daily library operations and advocate for patrons' needs.
