Job summary

King County is hiring Truck Driver III to safely haul refuse from transfer stations to the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill in Maple Valley, WA. You will operate a range of heavy trucks and trailers and perform routine inspections, fueling, and safe driving across diverse conditions.

The role requires at least five years of tractor/trailer experience, strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work independently in a public agency setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience safely driving tractor/trailer
• Skilled in communicating with a diverse range of staff and customers
• Skilled in working in a team environment and independently
• Experience managing heavy construction
• Experience working in an oil field or similar industrial operations
• Experience operating logging trucks or other heavy-duty trucks

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles including trucks and trailers
• Hook and unhook hydraulic hoses to trailers
• Drive in diverse conditions and install tire chains safely
• Load and transport solid waste, equipment, gravel, water, fuel, and other materials
• Perform and document safety inspections of tractors and trailers
• Check and refill fluid levels and tire pressure; refuel and maintain vehicle
• Document trip activities and complete required trip reports
