Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is hiring a welder in Westmoreland County for full-time, non-civil service work at the Department of Transportation. The role focuses on welding, fabrication, and maintenance of transportation equipment and structures with a 7:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule, no telework, and a starting salary in the 41k–62k range.

Applicants must have welding experience, relevant training, and a valid PA Class C driver's license.

Qualifications

Three years of experience operating welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures.
Three-year HS Vo-Tech welding program completion option.
Welder apprentice program completion option.
AWS D1.1 welding certificate or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Metal Preparation: Clean, heat, and shape materials for welding.
Structural Welding: Weld and cut on bridges, vehicle bodies, engine parts, and related equipment.
Parts Fabrication: Create and repair components for plow frames, blades, spreaders, and other equipment.
Tool Operation: Use drills, saws, presses, and compressors.
Equipment Handling: Operate forklifts, trucks, and bucket trucks.
Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe work area and follow safety rules.
