Job summary

Williamson County is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Clerk to perform routine transactional purchasing and compliance oversight supporting daily operations. You will ensure purchases comply with internal controls, procurement laws, and county policies, acting as a key resource for departments and end users.

Responsibilities include reviewing requisitions, preparing purchase orders up to $25,000, and assisting with the solicitation process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of purchasing related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal government finance practices.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Performs front desk duties such as answering/routing telephone calls and assisting walk-in visitors.
• Independently reviews, validates, and enforces internal control requirements for purchasing transactions.
• Performs detailed risk analysis of requisitions and purchase orders to ensure legality and proper authorization.
• Serves as a front-line risk resource for routine purchases, protecting the County from audit findings and financial exposure.
• Reviews supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to approval.
• Creates, approves, audits and files purchase orders and requisitions up to $25,000.
• Serves as primary point of contact for internal and external customers on routine purchasing concerns.
• Maintains audit-ready electronic and physical purchasing records.
