Job summary

South Dakota State Government, Division of Legal Services, seeks an experienced attorney to serve as Litigation Supervisor. The role involves statewide litigation, hearings, and advising the Department of Social Services on a range of legal issues, with supervision of other attorneys.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited law school.
• Member of the South Dakota State Bar or eligible to become one.
• Experience with tribal courts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Department in litigation across state and federal courts, including administrative hearings.
• Plan and execute litigation, prepare witnesses, motions, briefs and exhibits, and argue cases.
• Conduct legal research and render advice to all DSS divisions as needed.
• Provide leadership and supervision to other staff within the Division of Legal Services.
