The Office of the South Dakota Attorney General in Pierre is seeking an Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Litigation Division. This full-time role involves providing legal counsel and representation to state agencies on complex matters, including Indian law and natural resources.

Qualified candidates hold a JD, are licensed or eligible to practice in SD, and possess strong writing, research, and advocacy skills. Salary ranges from $90,000 to $115,000 with excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in South Dakota or able to promptly obtain licensure.
• Excellent writing, research, and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide legal counsel and representation to state agencies on a broad range of matters including Indian law, natural resources, and regulatory issues.
• Draft and review administrative rules, contracts and legal memoranda; advise agency leadership and staff; conduct legal research.
• Represent the State in administrative and judicial proceedings and participate in negotiations.
