Fairbanks North Star Borough is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant to maintain accuracy and integrity of general ledger balances, budgets, and encumbrances. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, budget transfers, and reconciliations for multiple funds.

The role requires strong accounting background, analytical skills, and proficiency with Excel and ERP systems. The position emphasizes public-sector fund accounting and audit readiness.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution; finance or related degree considered with Intermediate Accounting coursework.
• Three years of progressively responsible accounting experience (or two years public accounting); substitution allowed.
• Strong analytical experience with a sophisticated financial management system and knowledge of data inter-relationships.
• Proficiency with Excel (including advanced functions); Word, Access, PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat preferred.

Mansioni

• Review procurements, budget transfers, and appropriating ordinances for correct account distribution, allowability, and funds availability.
• Perform general ledger file maintenance functions for assigned funds.
• Prepare budget and journal entries for assigned funds.
• Respond to inquiries from Borough employees for assigned funds.
• Prepare reconciliations, allocations, reports, statements, spreadsheets and schedules, and perform special accounting projects.
