Job summary

The Department of Social Services in Pierre, SD offers a Summer Finance Division internship for students. The Finance Intern will support the finance team with accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, and admin tasks, gaining hands-on experience in public sector financial operations.

Under supervision, the intern may assist with planning, testing, documentation, training, and implementation of agency projects and enterprise systems, including BISON.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time of application.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their program.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, financial reporting, and administrative activities.
• Support planning, coordination, testing, documentation, training, and implementation of agency projects and enterprise systems including BISON.
• Contribute to assignments and special projects under supervision of finance professionals.
