Job summary

City of Palatka is seeking a Finance Director to oversee the City’s Finance Department and lead budgeting and financial reporting for all governmental activities. The position requires strong management oversight of accounting, payroll, pensions, and treasury operations.

As a trusted advisor to the City Manager and City Commission, the Finance Director will drive long-term financial planning, investment strategy, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with eight (8) years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in accounting and financial management for a governmental agency or other large entity; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate and administers all activities and personnel of the City’s Finance department in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Supervise activities of the Finance Department including accounting, reporting, payroll, pensions, and cash/debt management.
• Prepare annual departmental budget and monitor financial performance.
• Review revenue forecasts for all funds to support cash flow planning.
• Coordinate investments and debt service activities and ensure integrity of financial information systems.
• Serve as liaison with City Commission and Pension committees on retirement matters.
