Job summary

The City of Fairfax Human Resources Department seeks a Temporary Employee Relations Specialist to provide hands-on support for employee relations matters. This full-time, temporary role pays an anticipated hourly rate of $45-$55 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include intake and analysis of concerns, conducting investigations, preparing clear reports, and advising supervisors on conduct, performance, and grievance procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required.
• 3–5 years of professional employee relations experience.
• Experience with workplace investigations and disciplinary actions.
• Familiarity with FLSA, ADA, FMLA, Title VII and related laws.
• Ability to prepare written reports and summaries.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake, assessment, and preliminary analysis of employee relations concerns.
• Plan and conduct workplace investigations, including interviewing employees and witnesses.
• Prepare written materials such as investigations summaries and advisory memoranda.
• Provide guidance to supervisors on conduct, performance management, corrective action, and grievance procedures.
• Assist with administration of disciplinary and grievance processes.
