Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Database Specialist Solutions Architect for State & Local Government, Education, and emerging technology customers. You will design end-to-end database solutions across RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, and more, guiding migrations and modernization.

This role blends deep database expertise with customer-facing consulting, enabling workshops and reference architectures, and collaborating with sales, product, and engineering to drive adoption in public

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures.
• 8+ years of experience in technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).

Responsibilities

• Design and architect end-to-end database solutions for public sector customers, leading technical discussions on complex migration and modernization strategies across relational databases (Amazon RDS, Aurora), NoSQL services (DynamoDB, DocumentDB), and specialized database engines (Neptune, ElastiCache, MemoryDB).
• Lead complex database migration assessments, performance optimization engagements, and architecture reviews, applying technical judgment to evaluate trade-offs in scalability, reliability, cost optimization, and operational excellence.
• Provide strategic technical guidance to customers through 1:1 advisory sessions and 1:many enablement workshops, translating business requirements into technical solutions that address their unique challenges in the competitive database landscape.
• Drive database service adoption and revenue growth by contributing to go-to-market strategy, creating reusable technical content (workshops, reference architectures, best practices), and mentoring field Solutions Architects through office hours and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, product, and engineering to gather customer feedback, influence database service roadmaps, and ensure customer requirements are translated into actionable product enhancements.
